This morning at my church, a young woman asked to speak to the congregation at the close of the service. She was lovely and Hispanic, and could not possibly have been over 16. Her first words were "I've been using cocaine for five years and I've decided to stop." She went on to say that about a month ago, it was found that something is wrong with her heart now, so she knew she should stop, but did not. Then yesterday a man stopped beside her in his car and offered her money to get in. She refused. Then he offered cocaine. And - she said for the first time ever - she refused cocaine. And that she intended never to have any again.
After the service, I talked to her alone a little while and she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. So now, she also has the help of God's Holy Spirit in her struggles.
Please pray for her. Not only does her heart need physical healing, but she needs many kinds of healing besides that. Her decision not to continue with cocaine means "no" after "no" after "no," for a long time. That road will be hard and long, with that old wolf, cocaine, always at her heels. She will need great strength. Your prayers can help.
